Our company started a cooperation with a medium-sized R&D center and part of an international concern employing thirty thousand people in several dozen countries scattered on five continents. They specialize in the areas of design and production of distributed systems, game implementation and delivery of software platforms for gaming terminals.
The law firm provided comprehensive legal services in terms of preparing licenses for proprietary software created by our client (including Nomad Design System).
We also verified commercial and open-source licences used in the creation of customer products (several dozen licences). The latter required considerable work and coordination with the client’s development teams to ensure whether the client could safely use the necessary licenses to meet its business and technical objectives.
Additionally, we prepared attachments to the software, as well as the disclaimer (a general license template streamlining the process).
Our lawyers secured the company’s interests, for which they had to analyse all the client’s previous licences and agreements regarding intellectual property rights. The work required the knowledge of the client’s business and full commitment to analyse the matter thoroughly, as implementing open-source software in client’s proprietary software may impact the ability to sell/licence the software to customers.
