Specializations

He specialises in contract law, particularly within the IT and IT security sectors, intellectual property law, commercial law—including litigation—and advises both domestic and international clients on international trade. intellectual property law, commercial law, including litigation, as well as electronic communications law, advising both domestic and foreign clients on international trade. In his day-to-day professional work, he focuses on cybersecurity, in particular the regulations in this area, and provides legal services to entities in the industry. He has been with KWKR Law Firm for nearly a decade.

Experience

On behalf of KWKR, he served as a dedicated in-house lawyer at a renowned company specialising in the cybersecurity market, giving him practical experience and an understanding of the interplay between law and technology.

Mikołaj Prochownik has also supported the firm’s clients in adapting their organisations to implement the ISO/IEC 27001 standard for information security management systems. He assists companies in complying with the requirements of the Act on the National Cybersecurity System, which transposes the NIS2 Directive, and advises on the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act.

He has also advised on the conclusion of contracts with entities from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, operating in sectors including cybersecurity, banking, telecommunications, gaming, hospitality and tourism. He successfully defended one of the firm’s clients, a publicly listed company operating a VOD portal, in proceedings before the US federal government against allegations of intellectual property infringement.

An excellent speaker, frequent presenter and author of publications, particularly on cybersecurity law, including NIS2 and the amendment to the Act on the National Cybersecurity System.

Education

Mikołaj Prochownik is a legal adviser registered with the Kraków Bar Association since 2016. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University.
Winner of first prize in the public speaking competition for trainee legal advisers organised by the Kraków Bar Association. He also took part in the “Constitutional Week” project, organised by the Prof. Zbigniew Hołda Association.
